A reforge is a named bonus on a gun, a knife or a pickaxe, like **Deadly** or **Precise**. The **Blacksmith** is the NPC who applies them. Walk up and use him, or eat a **Booster Cookie** and type `/anvil` to open his window from anywhere. The remote window shuts when you're in combat.

His window has three tabs: **Reforge Item**, **Anvil** and **Gemstones**. Gemstones have [their own page](https://justified.gg/wiki/items/gemstones). Paid work with the Blacksmith earns you standing with him.

---

## How It Works

A reforge adds stats while you hold the item, in fights with the infected. It never changes the item itself, and fights with players stay as they were.

You have two ways to get one:

- **Reforge Item.** The Blacksmith rolls a random reforge for you.
- **A reforge stone.** You pick the reforge and set the stone at the Anvil tab.

A reforge replaces the one the item already has and shows in the item's name, like a Rapid M4A1.

---

## Reforge Item

The Blacksmith picks one reforge at random from the **Basic** reforges for that kind of item. Every reforge in the pool is equally likely, and he never rolls the one the item already has.

| Item | Basic Reforges |
| - | - |
| Gun | Deadly, Fine, Grand, Hasty, Neat, Rapid, Unreal, Awkward, Rich |
| Knife | Epic, Fair, Fast, Gentle, Heroic, Legendary, Odd, Sharp, Spicy |

Pickaxes take their own list.

### Cost

Your **first** reforge ever costs **10 [Coal](https://justified.gg/wiki/item/coal)** instead of cash, if you have the Coal. After that, the fee depends on the item's rarity.

| Rarity | Fee |
| - | - |
| Basic | £16,250 |
| Advanced | £32,500 |
| Superior | £65,000 |
| Arcane | £162,500 |
| Apex | £325,000 |
| Mythic | £650,000 |
| Divine | £975,000 |

Each earlier paid reroll on the same item adds **25%** of the first fee, up to **3 times** the first fee. The Coal reforge doesn't count, and neither do stones.

| Rolls Before | Fee Multiplier |
| - | - |
| 0 | 1x |
| 1 | 1.25x |
| 2 | 1.5x |
| 4 | 2x |
| 8 or more | 3x |

So on an Apex gun the fee runs £325,000, £406,250, £487,500 and on up to £975,000. The window shows the next fee before you pay.

Rerolling for one particular reforge gets dear fast. If you know the one you want, buy its stone.

---

## Reforge Stones

A stone puts one fixed reforge on an item for a coin fee. Open the **Anvil** tab, put the item on the left and the stone on the right.

You need the **Mining** level the stone names. The fee depends on the item's rarity.

| Stone | Reforge | Mining |
| - | - | - |
| [Kaleidoscopic Mineral](https://justified.gg/wiki/item/kaleidoscopic_mineral) | Headstrong | 15 |
| [Optical Lens](https://justified.gg/wiki/item/optical_lens) | Precise | 22 |
| [Spirit Stone](https://justified.gg/wiki/item/spirit_stone) | Spiritual | 24 |

### Gun Stone Fees

| Item Rarity | Kaleidoscopic Mineral | Optical Lens | Spirit Stone |
| - | - | - | - |
| Basic | £6,900 | £13,800 | £27,600 |
| Advanced | £13,800 | £34,500 | £57,500 |
| Superior | £27,600 | £69,000 | £115,000 |
| Arcane | £57,500 | £138,000 | £230,000 |
| Apex | £115,000 | £276,000 | £460,000 |
| Mythic | £230,000 | £552,000 | £920,000 |

Precise adds 10% to a headshot on a creature. Headstrong adds 8%.

### Knife Stones

Knives take their own stones.

The full table is for players signed in to the wiki. Each item's details and recipe are on its own page, e.g. [Leather](https://justified.gg/wiki/item/leather); search for an item by name to find it.

The Smithmonger sells the Dirt Bottle for £350,000 and buys stones you find. The Anvil tab shows the exact fee for any pairing before you commit.

### Where Stones Come From

The gun stones turn up when Deep Sea Divers collect trench artifacts and when Factorians find artifacts by hand with the Multi Tool.

Old Heroic, Legendary and similar stones from before the reforge change still work. Each one gives the reforge its name became.

Stones Without a Use Yet

Stones for armor, tools and equipment sit in the item list, but nothing takes those reforges yet. Keep them.

## What Each Gun Reforge Gives

These are the stats at the lowest and highest standard rarity. Rarities in between fall between the two. Intelligence has no use yet.

| Reforge | Basic | Apex |
| - | - | - |
| Deadly | +10 Crit Chance, +5 Crit Damage | +22 Crit Chance, +50 Crit Damage |
| Fine | +3 Strength, +5 Crit Chance, +2 Crit Damage | +25 Strength, +15 Crit Chance, +15 Crit Damage |
| Grand | +25 Strength | +60 Strength |
| Hasty | +3 Strength, +20 Crit Chance | +15 Strength, +50 Crit Chance |
| Neat | +10 Crit Chance, +4 Crit Damage, +3 Intelligence | +20 Crit Chance, +30 Crit Damage, +20 Intelligence |
| Rapid | +2 Strength, +35 Crit Damage | +10 Strength, +75 Crit Damage |
| Unreal | +3 Strength, +8 Crit Chance, +5 Crit Damage | +25 Strength, +13 Crit Chance, +50 Crit Damage |
| Awkward | +10 Crit Chance, +5 Crit Damage, -5 Intelligence | +25 Crit Chance, +30 Crit Damage, -50 Intelligence |
| Rich | +10 Crit Chance, +2 Crit Damage, +3 Intelligence | +20 Crit Chance, +15 Crit Damage, +20 Intelligence |
| Precise (stone) | +3 Strength, +8 Crit Chance, +5 Crit Damage | +25 Strength, +13 Crit Chance, +50 Crit Damage |
| Spiritual (stone) | +4 Strength, +7 Crit Chance, +10 Crit Damage | +28 Strength, +12 Crit Chance, +55 Crit Damage |
| Headstrong (stone) | +2 Strength, +10 Crit Chance, +4 Crit Damage | +23 Strength, +15 Crit Chance, +42 Crit Damage |

Mythic items get a bigger set again. Divine items get no reforge stats.

## Other Things the Anvil Takes

The same Anvil tab also fits a few other items to a gun.

The full table is for players signed in to the wiki. Each item's details and recipe are on its own page, e.g. [Leather](https://justified.gg/wiki/item/leather); search for an item by name to find it.

Each one stays on the gun for good and is free to apply. World bosses drop the Fuming Potato Book and the Recombobulator 3000. Hot Potato Books go up to 10 per gun, and Fuming ones to 5 more after that.

---

## Tips

- Use your first reforge on a gun you'll keep. It costs 10 Coal instead of cash.
- Compare a stone's fee with your next reroll fee before you roll. The window shows both.
- Raise a gun's rarity first. Reforge stats scale with rarity, so a reforge on a Basic gun is worth less after an [Anvil](https://justified.gg/wiki/items/anvil) upgrade.

## FAQ

### Does a reforge change my gun's damage?

No. It adds stats to you while you hold the gun, in fights with the infected.

### Can the Blacksmith roll the reforge I already have?

No. He always rolls a different one.

### Why can't I put a stone on my gun?

The message says why. The usual causes are a Mining level that's too low, a stone for the wrong kind of item, or a gun that already has that reforge. A Lifetime store gun without mods is refused too.

### Does a reforge survive an upgrade?

Yes. The reforge stays and its stats follow the new rarity.
