Garry's Mod's time achievements count the minutes you spend in a game, not the hours Steam shows on your profile. Your Steam playtime can be far past 24 hours while One Day is still locked.
Steam Hours Aren't Game Hours
Steam counts every minute Garry's Mod is open. That includes the main menu, loading screens and the game sitting in the background.
The achievements only count time you spend in a game, on a map. That's why players with hundreds of Steam hours can still be missing One Week.
The Time Achievements

One Week, One Month and Addict share one counter. Every minute counts towards all three.
Check Your Real Progress
Steam shows the counter for you.
Open Your Steam Profile
In Steam, click your name, then Profile. Copy the address of the page.
Open the Stats Page
After the last / of your profile address, add stats/GarrysMod/achievements and open it.
Read the Bar
Locked time achievements show a bar like 3,871 / 10,080. The first number is the minutes you have. The second is the minutes you need.
If that first number is much lower than your Steam hours, nothing is broken. You've spent a lot of time on menus.
One Week, One Month and Addict all show the same first number, because they share one counter.
Things That Stop the Counter
Sitting on the Main Menu
Idling on the main menu doesn't count. Load into a map, in singleplayer or on a server.
Cheats
Turning on sv_cheats can stop achievements counting. If you've used it, restart the game before you play for achievement time.
Not Signed In to Steam
You must be logged in to Steam to unlock achievements. If Steam is in offline mode, go back online.
Marathon and Half Marathon
These two need one long session, not a total. You have to stay on the same server and the same map for the full 4 or 8 hours.
Leaving the server or a map change breaks the run. A server restart disconnects you, so it breaks the run too.
To get them:
- Pick a server that stays on one map, like a DarkRP server.
- Find out when the server restarts. Join with at least 8 clear hours before it.
- Stay connected. Turn off your PC's sleep timer so it doesn't sleep while you're away.
Startup Millenium
"Start Garry's Mod 1000 times" counts launches, not time. Each full start of the game adds one. Steam shows the count the same way, as a bar out of 1,000.
Still Not Unlocking
Restart Steam and the game, then load into a map again.
Make sure you're loaded into a map, not on the main menu. Check you haven't turned on sv_cheats. Then restart the game.
Guides that claimed to speed up the Addict counter have been marked as not working. The only way is playing.
