Bitcoin Mining
Bitcoin mining is a passive income system that needs a physical power grid. Unlike printers, you manage generators, power leads, and fuel to keep your miners running.
Guide Accuracy
We keep this guide up to date, but specific values may change with server updates. Always check in-game for current figures.
Equipment Overview
Everything is in the F4 menu.
Power System
| Equipment | Price | Limit | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Generator | £5,000 | 2 | Powers your miners. Holds 500 fuel and outputs 10 power |
| Power Lead | £5 | 5 | Connects a generator to a miner |
| Extension Lead | £8 | 1 | Four sockets, so one generator can feed several miners |
| Fuel | £150 | 2 | Refills a generator (+250 fuel) |
Mining Hardware
| Equipment | Price | Limit | Power Draw | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bitminer S1 | £500 | 2 | 1 | Entry level, 1 core |
| Bitminer S2 | £750 | 2 | 2.5 | Mid-tier, 2 cores |
| Bitminer Rack | £5,000 | 1 | 1 per server | Holds up to 8 Bitminer Servers |
| Bitminer Server | £1,500 | 8 | 1 each | +2 cores per server (rack only) |
Power Math
One generator (10 power) runs a full rack with both S1 miners, or both S1s and both S2s. Plan your power grid carefully.
Extras
| Equipment | Price | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Large Fuel | £500 | A barrel of 1,000 fuel |
| Fuel Tank | £60,000 | Stores 2,500 fuel for your generator |
| Fuel Line | £15,000 | Connects a fuel tank to a generator |
| Solar Panel | £90,000 | Free power from sunlight |
| Solar Converter | £75,000 | Turns solar power into power for your miners |
| Solar Cable | £2,000 | Connects solar panels to the converter |
Setting Up Your Mining Operation
Setting Up Power
Place your Generator in a secure spot in your base
Add Fuel. Touch a fuel can to the generator with your gravity gun
Place Power Leads. These connect your generator to miners
Turn it on. Press E on the generator to start it
Generators burn fuel all the time they're running. A full rack empties a full generator in about 10 minutes.
Power Management
Power Budget
| Setup | Total Power Draw | Can Run On 1 Generator? |
|---|---|---|
| 2x S1 | 2 | ✅ Yes |
| 2x S1 + 2x S2 | 7 | ✅ Yes |
| Full Rack (8 servers) | 8 | ✅ Yes |
| Full Rack + 2x S1 | 10 | ✅ Yes (exactly) |
| Full Rack + S2 | 10.5 | ❌ No, you need 2 generators |
Fuel Runtime
| Setup | Runtime (Full Generator) |
|---|---|
| 1x S1 | about 80 minutes |
| 2x S1 + 2x S2 | about 12 minutes |
| Full Rack | about 10 minutes |
Fuel Burns Fast
At high loads you'll need to refuel often. Stock up on fuel, add a fuel tank, or go solar.
Remote Access
Install remote access on a miner from its desktop for £50,000, then type /remotebitminers in chat to check and manage it from anywhere.
Common Problems
Cause: Not connected to a running generator.
Solution: Check your power lead connections. Make sure the generator is turned on (press E) and has fuel.
Cause: Out of fuel, or too many miners on it.
Solution: Add more fuel with your gravity gun. If the generator warns about too much power, move some miners to a second generator.
Cause: Empty rack with no Bitminer Servers installed.
Solution: Buy Bitminer Servers and touch them to the rack to install them.
Cause: Too many miners drawing power.
Solution: A single generator outputs 10 power. Add a second generator and split your miners between them.
Cause: Standing too far away.
Solution: Get closer to the miner.
Cause: Not enough money or already at max level.
Solution: Check upgrade costs on the desktop. Every upgrade has a level cap.
Quick Reference
- Generator: Powers everything, needs fuel, outputs 10 power
- Power Leads: Physical cables connecting generator to miners
- Fuel: Add to the generator with your gravity gun (+250 per can)
- Rack: Holds 8 Bitminer Servers, the best setup
- Desktop: Press E to manage, sell bitcoin, and upgrade
- Full rack drains fast: about 10 minutes of fuel at full load
Values May Vary
The bitcoin price moves with the market, and upgrade costs and fuel use may be adjusted. Check in-game for current values.
