Money printers are the classic DarkRP passive income method. Buy a printer rack, fill it with printers, keep them charged, and collect the cash.
Perfect for Beginners
Printers are the easiest way to make money. They need little attention and teach you the basics of owning a base.
Not Every Job Can Print
Government jobs and most legal jobs can't use printers. The Mayor can.
How Printers Work
Buy a Printer Rack from the F4 menu for £15,000. You can own one.
Place it in your base. Keep it hidden, protected, and out of water.
Install printers into its 10 bays from the rack menu (press E)
Maintain it. Recharge the batteries and reboot any bay that crashes.
Collect your money before the bays fill up
The Rack Menu
Press E on your rack to open its menu:
| Button | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Install | Adds a printer to an empty bay |
| Power | Turns the rack on or off |
| Collect | Takes the money from every bay, or from one bay (£1,000 minimum) |
| Recharge all | Refills every battery. Free with cash |
| Long-life | A battery that drains five times slower. Costs 1 bit per printer |
| Level | Upgrades a printer to the next level, or straight to Max |
| Sell | Sells a printer for half of what you paid, plus the money in it |
Installing Printers
Every printer starts as a Copper Printer. Each printer you add costs more than the last:
| Printer | Price |
|---|---|
| 1st | £10,000 |
| 2nd | £15,000 |
| 3rd | £20,000 |
| 4th | £27,500 |
| 5th | £35,000 |
| 6th | £45,000 |
| 7th | £55,000 |
| 8th | £65,000 |
| 9th | £80,000 |
| 10th | £100,000 |
Printers you keep in a bank vault count towards your 10.
Printer Levels
Printers go from Level 1 to Level 15. Each level makes the printer print faster, and the menu shows the price of the next level. As a printer levels up it moves through five tiers:
| Tier | Holds Before Full |
|---|---|
| Copper | £2,000 |
| Iron | £3,500 |
| Gold | £7,000 |
| Ruby | £10,000 |
| Diamond | £13,000 |
A full printer stops printing until you collect from it. Paid ranks hold more.
Upgrades
| Upgrade | Effect |
|---|---|
| Level | Each printer prints faster |
| Storage | Each printer holds more money before it's full |
| Fans | A quieter rack. Bought once for the whole rack |
| Clean Boot | 25% fewer crashes per level. Bought once for the whole rack |
| Watchdog | Reboots 25% of crashes by itself per level. Bought once for the whole rack |
| Rack Boost | More money from every bay. Paid ranks only |
Crashes
Now and then a bay crashes and stops printing. You can't collect from the rack while a bay is down. Reboot it from the rack's screen, and a clean reboot gives the bays a short printing bonus.
Protecting Your Printers
Use fading doors, keypads, and proper base design. Check the Building Rules for what's allowed.
Don't place your rack where it's visible from outside. Raiders shouldn't know what's inside until they breach.
Lock the rack so nobody else can use its controls. Only you, your buddies, and players you authorise can collect from it.
A player raiding you can collect your printers' money and gets paid for destroying your rack. Police can seize your printers by standing at the rack for 10 seconds.
Common Issues
Your rack was destroyed, or it ended up in water. Water wipes every bay, so keep the rack dry.
Check the bay. It's either out of battery, full, powered off, or crashed.
A crashed bay blocks collecting until you reboot it, and you need at least £1,000 in the rack.
