Most NPCs in the city keep a standing for you. Do business with an NPC and your reputation with them rises. A title chip and a bar under their name show where you stand. Each Broker trade keeps its own reputation.
Titles
Every NPC uses the same five titles.
| Title | Reputation Needed | Character XP, Paid Once |
|---|---|---|
| Neutral | 0 | 0 |
| Friendly | 1,000 | 50 |
| Trusted | 3,000 | 100 |
| Honored | 7,000 | 200 |
| Hero | 12,000 | 400 |
You get a message and the XP the first time you reach each title with each NPC.
Raising Reputation
| Action | Reputation |
|---|---|
| Completing a Quest Board quest | 40 with the Quest Board |
| Delivering a Jack the Miner or Marge Tipley order | 60 with that NPC |
| Finishing a chain | 300 with the guide who teaches it (Mia, Jack or Marge) |
| Trading with an NPC | 1 for every £5,000 of the trade, up to 60 a trade |
| Buying from Señor Calabaza | 1 for every 10 candy spent |
- Many traders cap what they give you at 300 reputation a day each.
- The same NPC list covers the Quest Board, Mia, Jack, Marge, Maddox, Holt, Lucius, Smithmonger, the Combat, Mine, Fish and Farm Merchants, the Blacksmith, Zog, George, Kat, Ambrose, Orrin, the Market Trader, the Pill Market, Pruitt, Kane, the Package Buyer, Señor Calabaza and Hollow.
Broker Reputation
Brokers are different. Each trade has its own reputation: general, weed, meth, pharma and industrial. Progress with one doesn't carry to another.
Earning It
- Each finished sale earns 20 points, scaled by how big the sale is against a typical load for that trade. It counts up to 3 times a typical load.
- A sale that's a full typical load adds 10 more.
- Selling goods that aren't your own job's trade earns half.
- The first full-load sale to a trade each day earns an extra 40 (half for goods that aren't your job's).
- A sale you walk away from, or only part of, earns nothing.
What It Gives
| Title | Price bonus on every sale | Less skimmed at a general fence |
|---|---|---|
| Neutral | 0% | 0% |
| Friendly | +1.5% | 3% |
| Trusted | +2.5% | 5% |
| Honored | +3.5% | 7.5% |
| Hero | +5% | 10% |
Only general fences skim, so only they have the second column. Specialist fences take no skim.
Losing It
- Walking away from a sale you started (cancelling it, leaving the circle or changing job) costs 30 reputation for each title you hold in that trade. That's 30 at Neutral up to 150 at Hero.
- Being arrested costs 2% of your reputation with every trade, at least 60 and at most 300 points.
- Neither loss can push you below 150.
Tips
- Run your own job's trade to a Broker for full reputation.
- Take the first full-load sale of the day to each trade you use.
- Don't start a sale you aren't going to finish.
FAQ
Does reputation expire?
No. Only the Broker penalties above reduce it.
Do I need Hero everywhere?
No. Each NPC and each trade is separate, so pick the ones you use most.
