Every job has its own ladder of 60 levels. The ladders are your Skills. Work a job and its ladder levels up. Open the Skills tab in the Escape menu (Progress group) to see them, along with your perks.
The job levels section of that tab lists every level on every ladder and what it gives you. The same menu is Ambrose's perk shop. Walk up to Ambrose, the Perk Dealer, to open it. MVP+ and Premium+ can open it from anywhere, except in combat.
Skills Are Job Ladders
There's no separate Mining or Fishing skill. Retro Miner is the mining ladder and Fisherman is the fishing ladder. Each ladder levels from the work of its own job.
The Ladders
Each ladder below levels while you work the matching job. Each job's page lists what it does for you.
| Ladder | Guide |
|---|---|
| Retro Miner | Retro Miner |
| Gold Digger | Gold Digger |
| City Worker | City Worker |
| Trashman | Trash Collector |
| Meth Cook | Meth Lab |
| Weed Grower | Weed Farming |
| Moonshine Distiller | Moonshine |
| Lean Dealer | Lean |
| Pharmacist and Medic | Pharmaceuticals |
| Pizza Chef | Pizza |
| Firework Maker | Fireworks |
| Fuel Refiner | Fuel Refiner |
| Factorian | Factorian |
These ladders work the same way, and you'll find them in the Skills tab: Chef, Smoothie Maker, Casino Manager, Gun Dealer, Heroin Cook, Opium Cook, Genetic Researcher, Light Designer, Fisherman, Deep Sea Diver, Botnet Operator, Hitman, Robbery, Burglary, Terror and Law Enforcement.
Several jobs can share a ladder. The Firework Maker ladder, for example, covers every Firework Maker rank.
Lightsaber, Knife and Magic Wand have ladders of their own that level as you use the weapon. They pay no Bits and don't feed your Character level.
How Levels Are Paced
Every job ladder uses the same table. Early levels come fast and the late ones take a long time.
| Level | XP for that level | Total XP |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 50 | 50 |
| 5 | 500 | 1,175 |
| 10 | 3,500 | 9,925 |
| 15 | 20,000 | 67,425 |
| 20 | 200,000 | 522,425 |
| 25 | 700,000 | 3,022,425 |
| 30 | 1,200,000 | 8,022,425 |
| 35 | 1,700,000 | 15,522,425 |
| 40 | 2,200,000 | 25,522,425 |
| 45 | 2,750,000 | 38,072,425 |
| 50 | 4,000,000 | 55,172,425 |
| 55 | 5,500,000 | 79,672,425 |
| 60 | 7,000,000 | 111,672,425 |
How much XP one action pays depends on the job.
Half of everything you earn on a job ladder also goes to your Character level.
XP Bonuses
The first-hour bonus and your paid rank both add to job ladders. See Leveling for the numbers.
What Each Level Gives
Bits
Every fifth level pays a bigger amount.
| Level | Bits |
|---|---|
| 5 | 10 |
| 10 | 15 |
| 15 | 20 |
| 20 | 30 |
| 25 | 40 |
| 30 | 60 |
| 35 | 80 |
| 40 | 100 |
| 45 | 125 |
| 50 | 150 |
| 55 | 200 |
| 60 | 300 |
Every other level pays a smaller amount that goes up by decade.
| Levels | Bits for each level that isn't in the table |
|---|---|
| 1 to 10 | 2 |
| 11 to 20 | 4 |
| 21 to 30 | 6 |
| 31 to 40 | 8 |
| 41 to 50 | 10 |
| 51 to 60 | 12 |
Shards and Cases
| Level | Reward |
|---|---|
| 10 | Bronze Case |
| 20 | Silver Case |
| 30 | 50 Shards, Gold Case |
| 40 | 50 Shards, Gold Case |
| 50 | 50 Shards, Platinum Case |
| 60 | 50 Shards, Diamond Case |
The case drops as an item at your feet the moment you reach the level.
Job Kits
Each job ladder has four kits. You can only claim one while you're working that job.
| Kit | Level | Cooldown |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice's Gear | 10 | 45 minutes |
| Journeyman's Kit | 25 | 70 minutes |
| Expert's Arsenal | 40 | 50 minutes |
| Master's Cache | 55 | 40 minutes |
The top kit also has a ranged version at the same level. Claiming one locks all your Jobs kits for its cooldown.
Job Perks and Unlocks
Many jobs open recipes, machines, products and perks at set levels. These are listed in the job levels section of the Skills tab and on each job's page.
Skill Points and Perks
Your skill points buy perks in the main perk list. You get one for each Character level and 6 more for every prestige. Job perks and boosts cost cash only.
You can refund your perks for free, which hands your skill points back. The cash you paid for them stays spent. You can't refund while you're in combat.
Tips
- Check the job levels section before you pick a job, so you know what its first ten levels give you.
- The first levels need little XP, so a short session on a new job already pays Bits.
- Each ladder pays Bits once per level. Prestiging your Character doesn't touch your job levels.
FAQ
Is there a Skill Average?
No. Each ladder stands on its own.
Why is my level 60 job slow near the top?
Each of the last levels asks for millions of XP. Boosts and XP bonuses shorten it.
Do I lose my job level if I switch jobs?
No. Every ladder is saved to your account.
Which jobs share a ladder?
Ranks of the same job do. The Skills tab lists each ladder by name.
