Accessories (players call them talismans) are small items you carry for a permanent perk: less damage from a creature family, faster running, extra Strength, a better Trashman rate. You keep them in the Accessory Bag, the side slot marked Accessories in your inventory (press I). The bag also turns every accessory into Accessory Power, which Maxwell the Thaumaturgist converts into stats.
How It Works
Each accessory belongs to a line, like Zombie, Speed or Vaccine. A line usually has three or more tiers: Talisman, Ring, Artifact, and sometimes Relic. Higher tiers give a bigger version of the same perk.
- Your bag holds one accessory per line. Drop a Ring on its Talisman and they swap.
- Accessories go in one at a time. They never stack.
- Accessories in your main inventory still give their special effects, but only the bag adds Accessory Power and stats.
- Perks work all the time. You don't equip or activate anything.
The full list is below. Each row shows the perk, its rarity and what Maddox or Lucius pays for it.
The full table is for players signed in to the wiki. Each item's details and recipe are on its own page, e.g. Leather; search for an item by name to find it.
Upgrading a Line
To move up a line, craft or buy the next tier. It needs the lower tier as an ingredient, so you keep one accessory per line and it gets better each time.
- Get the lower tier into your inventory, for example a
Zombie Talisman.
- Craft or buy the next tier,
Zombie Ring, with the lower tier plus the materials it asks for.
- Drag the new one onto the old one in the bag to swap them.
Higher tiers often need a Slayer level or a collection tier first. The recipe or the shop row shows exactly what.
Only the Top Tier Counts
If two tiers of one line ever sit in your bag, only the highest counts toward Accessory Power and stats. Keep the best one and sell or craft the others.
Where Accessories Come From
| Source | What you get |
|---|---|
| Lucius, "Rings & Artifacts" | Accessories sold for cash, or made to order from materials. The shop row shows the price and any level or collection gate. |
| The crafting bench | Most accessories paid for in materials alone. Open the recipe list under the Accessories category. |
| Creature drops | Some accessories only drop: the Broodmother drops the Spider Talisman, Void creatures drop the Ender Artifact, Radiant creatures drop the Blood God Crest, and ichthyosaurs drop the Fish Affinity Talisman. |
| World bosses | Each world boss has a charm only it drops. |
You can sell accessories back to Maddox where the shop lists a buy price. It never pays more than the materials that went into one.
The crafting grids for the Power line, the Zombie line and the others are on the bench itself. See Crafting for how the bench works.
Accessory Power
Every accessory in the bag adds Accessory Power, set by its rarity. Only the highest tier of each line counts.
| Rarity | Accessory Power |
|---|---|
| Basic | 3 |
| Advanced | 5 |
| Superior | 8 |
| Arcane | 12 |
| Apex | 16 |
Your total shows as a chip at the top of the bag. A bigger total does two things:
- It multiplies the stats of the Power you choose.
- It gives you Tuning Points, one for every 10 Accessory Power.
| Accessory Power | Stat multiplier | Tuning Points |
|---|---|---|
| 50 | 1.68 | 5 |
| 100 | 3.67 | 10 |
| 250 | 9.64 | 25 |
| 400 | 15.12 | 40 |
| 600 | 21.59 | 60 |
The multiplier grows slower and slower, so the first accessories matter most. Maxwell's window shows your current numbers.
Maxwell the Thaumaturgist
Maxwell is the only place you pick a Power, learn a Power Stone or spend Tuning Points. His window works only while you stand near him.
Powers
A Power is a stat spread that your Accessory Power multiplies. You have one chosen at a time, and you can switch whenever you visit Maxwell.
| Group | Powers | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | Fortuitous, Pretty, Protected, Simple, Warrior | Nothing |
| Intermediate | Commando, Disciplined, Inspired, Ominous, Prepared | One of your Combat skills at level 15 |
| Stone Powers | 20 more, one per Power Stone | Nine of that stone, learned once, plus a Combat skill level that depends on the stone |
Example: Warrior gives 8.4 Strength per point of multiplier. At 100 Accessory Power (multiplier 3.67) that is about 31 Strength. Protected leans on Health and Defense instead.
Power Stones
Hand Maxwell nine of one Power Stone and you learn its Power for good. The stones are used up. A stone's Power also carries a flat bonus that doesn't grow with Accessory Power, and the bonus only counts while that Power is chosen.
The full table is for players signed in to the wiki. Each item's details and recipe are on its own page, e.g. Leather; search for an item by name to find it.
Each stone's card tells you where it comes from. Some drop from creatures, some are found mining or diving, and Lucius crafts a few from materials.
Tuning
Spend your Tuning Points on the six stats below. Each point adds:
| Stat | Per point |
|---|---|
| Health | 5 |
| Defense | 1 |
| Speed | 1.5 |
| Strength | 1 |
| Crit Chance | 0.2 |
| Crit Damage | 1 |
You can take every point back for free and respend them. If your Accessory Power drops, points past your new total stop counting.
Bag Size
You start with 9 slots. Three things add more.
Redstone Dust Collection
Reach Redstone Dust tier II in your collections and the bag gets 6 more slots, and 6 more at every tier after that, up to tier IX.
| Redstone Dust tier | Total bag slots |
|---|---|
| Start | 9 |
| II | 15 |
| III | 21 |
| IV | 27 |
| V | 33 |
| VI | 39 |
| VII | 45 |
| VIII | 51 |
| IX | 57 |
Redstone Dust drops from iron rock when you mine and from some creatures. The Collections menu shows the amount each tier needs.
Redstone Miner Slots
At Redstone Dust tier II, the Mine Merchant sells four one-time upgrades for Redstone Dust: 128, 256, 512 and 1,024. Each is a bag item you use for one more slot, and you must use them in order.
The full table is for players signed in to the wiki. Each item's details and recipe are on its own page, e.g. Leather; search for an item by name to find it.
Community Upgrades
Your bag also grows by itself. Starting from the first time the bag loads for you, it gets 2 more slots after 4 days, then after 6 more days, then 8, 10, 14 and 18. That is six upgrades and 12 slots, and a message tells you each time one finishes.
The most a bag can reach is 73 slots: 57 from the collection, 4 from the Redstone Miner and 12 from community upgrades.
Raising an Accessory's Rarity
The Recombobulator 3000 raises a gun, a knife or an accessory by one rarity for good. An accessory at a higher rarity gives more Accessory Power. Use it at the Blacksmith's Anvil. It's free to apply, an item takes one, and only world bosses drop it.
Gemstone Slots
The Power line (Talisman of Power,
Ring of Power and
Artifact of Power) has gemstone slots. A gem fitted at the Blacksmith's Gemstone Grinder gives half its normal stats while it sits in a Power accessory. Higher tiers take more gem types.
Tips
- Fill every slot early. Even a Basic Talisman adds 3 Accessory Power, and a full bag of them beats a half-empty bag of Artifacts.
- Check your Combat level before you chase an intermediate or stone Power. The gate is on the Power itself.
- Spend Tuning Points on what your build uses. Speed is worth 1.5 a point and Health 5, so they go a long way.
- The bag only grows when you reach a Redstone Dust tier, use a Redstone Miner slot or a community upgrade finishes. If you think it's stuck at 9, check your Redstone Dust tier.
FAQ
Why won't my Ring go into the bag?
The bag takes one accessory per line. If its Talisman is already inside, drop the Ring on top of the Talisman and they swap.
Do accessories in my main inventory count?
Their perks work, but only accessories in the bag add Accessory Power and stats.
Where do I change my Power?
Only at Maxwell. His window opens when you use him, and it won't work from across the map.
What happens to my Tuning Points if I lose an accessory?
Points past your new total stop counting. They come back when your Accessory Power does, and you can reset them at Maxwell.
Do I need the Power Stones to use Powers?
No. The five starter Powers are free to pick. Stones only unlock the extra Powers.
