Every gun you own is an item in your inventory. It has a rarity, can carry lives, and can be reforged, enchanted and fitted with gems. Open your inventory to equip it: you have four weapon slots, and you can't equip two of the same gun.
Where to Get Guns
| Source | What you get |
|---|---|
| Holt, the Gunsmith in Downtown | Every gun the Gun Dealers stock, over the counter at 20% above the Gun Dealer price. |
| Hollow, the black market | Rolled offers with bonus stats and 3 lives. He shows up at random somewhere underground. |
| Crates | One gun or knife per pull. Some pulls are kept for good, others are loans that expire. |
| The Store | Guns bought with shards, kept in your Store Weapons section. |
| The crafting table | Syringe, Plastic Knife, Rocket Boots, Active Camouflage and Grappling Hook. See Crafting. |
Holt
Holt sells six shelves: Pistols, SMGs, Shotguns, Rifles, Snipers and Light Machine Guns. Stock is limited and refills every 30 minutes, so a gun you want may be sold out. His guns have no lives. Take one to the Anvil and upgrade it if you want lives.
Hollow
Hollow stays about 20 minutes and a purchase can stretch that to 30. His offers rotate, and some need a minimum level. Guns he sells come with 3 lives and bonus stats you can't roll anywhere else. Grenades and other throwables from Hollow have no lives and are one use.
Crates
Crate pulls run from Basic up to Apex. Loans expire and can't be dropped, and the reveal tells you which kind you got. A loan survives your death while it lasts. A kept pull follows the same death rules as any other gun.
Store Guns
Store guns can't be dropped or sold. You equip them from the Store Weapons section of your inventory. A Lifetime gun bought without mods can't be reforged, enchanted, gemmed or recombobulated until you unlock mods for it in the Store.
Rarity
Guns come in five tiers, and two more sit above them.
| Rarity | Roll Range | Gem Slots | Reforge Item Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 0.60 to 1.00 | None | £16,250 |
| Advanced | 0.70 to 1.08 | None | £32,500 |
| Superior | 0.80 to 1.15 | 1 | £65,000 |
| Arcane | 0.90 to 1.20 | 1 | £162,500 |
| Apex | 0.95 to 1.25 | 2 | £325,000 |
Higher rarity gives you:
- A better range for rolled stats.
- Bigger reforge bonuses and bigger gem bonuses.
- More gem slots.
- Dearer Blacksmith work. The fee in the table is what the Blacksmith charges for a random reforge on a gun of that rarity.
Mythic and Divine sit above Apex. An item only gets there with a Recombobulator 3000, which raises a gun, knife or accessory by one rarity, once per item, at the Blacksmith's Anvil. World bosses drop it.
Stat Rolls
Guns from crates roll four multipliers: damage, recoil, accuracy and fire rate. Each one lands inside the range for the gun's rarity. A roll stays with the gun for good and a reforge doesn't change it.
Reforges and gems add stats to you while you hold the gun, in fights with the infected. They don't change how the gun shoots. Enchants have their own rules, covered on the Enchanting page.
Lives, Broken Guns and Death
Guns with lives keep their slot when you die and spend one life. The last life breaks the gun. A broken gun can't fire or be equipped, and it sits in your bag until you repair it at the Anvil.
Guns without lives follow the harder rule:
- The gun in your hands drops where you fell for the player who killed you to pick up.
- Every other equipped gun is destroyed.
- Guns in your bag aren't touched.
Arrest doesn't destroy anything. Your guns go back to your bag.
Lives Spend on Death
Disconnecting in the middle of a fight with another player costs the same lives and drops the same guns as dying.
Quick Sell
Right-click a gun in your inventory and pick Sell... to open Quick Sell. It pays cash straight to your wallet.
Payout = half the gun's store price. For a gun with lives, multiply that by lives left over its full lives. The table uses a £100,000 gun as an example.
| Gun | Store Price | Lives | Quick Sell |
|---|---|---|---|
| No lives | £100,000 | None | £50,000 |
| 3 lives, all left | £100,000 | 3 / 3 | £50,000 |
| 3 lives, 2 left | £100,000 | 2 / 3 | £33,333 |
| Broken | £100,000 | 0 / 3 | Nothing |
Quick Sell refuses:
- Guns with no store price.
- Store guns.
- Locked items. Unlock them first.
Tips
- Repair a gun before you sell it. The payout follows the lives it has left.
- Keep a spare gun in your bag. Whatever's equipped is what a death takes.
- Look for the lives count on the card before you pay. Guns from Holt have none.
FAQ
How do I know if a gun has lives?
The item card shows a count like 3 / 3. A gun with no lives shows none.
My gun says Broken. Is it gone?
No. It's in your bag and the Anvil mends it. Quick Sell pays nothing for a broken gun, so repair it first.
Do reforges and gems work against players?
No. They add their stats in fights with the infected and leave fights with players alone.
Can I keep a gun I got from a crate loan?
Loans expire after a set number of days. Kept pulls don't.
